Registration for Spring Youth Program Opens

Registration for Spring Youth Program Opens

CLAYTON, North Carolina – The Clayton Rugby Football Club has opened up registration for our spring 2024 youth rugby program. The club’s youth section, affectionately known as the Wombats, is for children ages 4-10. The program is non-contact flag rugby and serves as an introduction to the sport of rugby. The program focuses on the FUNdamentals of pass, catch, and evasion.

The program starts April 25th and runs through June 13th. Sessions are every Thursday night from 6pm-7pm. To kick things off, the club is hosting a FREE youth clinic on March 2nd at the Johnston County Rugby Park.

The club aims to expand on youth numbers this season and build upon that for the future. Youth Director Nick Taylor is working on building relationships with other clubs to create opportunities for inter club youth flag rugby matches in the future.

“We want to double the size of our program over the next year,” said Taylor. The more kids we have in the program, the more we can do and offer. Especially with game play opportunities for the kids in the 7-10 age range.”
