Time flies when you’re having fun—and the Clayton Rugby Football Club is wasting no time getting back to business. While our men’s squad is still grinding through the heat of the Summer 7s season, it’s already been a couple of months since the Bootleggers wrapped up their final XVs match of the 2024/2025 season. With the new season fast approaching, the countdown is on with pre-season training kicks off on August 5th as the club prepares for a big year ahead.
The Bootleggers are building on strong momentum. Last season saw an influx of new players and this summer has added even more fresh faces to the roster. Backed by a revamped coaching staff and a renewed sense of purpose, the club is setting its sights high for the 2025/2026 campaign. The goals? Pushing for promotion and growing the player base to support the return of a developmental/social second side.
Clayton RFC is actively recruiting new players of all skill levels—whether you’re a seasoned vet or have never touched a rugby ball. The club prides itself on being welcoming and focused on development with coaches who emphasize fundamentals and team culture. The mix of experienced veterans and eager newcomers creates a perfect environment for learning the sport and having a blast while doing it.
Pre-season practices will be held every Tuesday and Thursday from 6:30–8:00 PM at the club’s home ground, the Johnston County Rugby Park which is one of the few dedicated rugby facilities in the region. It’s the ideal setting to sharpen your skills and become part of something special.
