YOUTH

Wombats Youth Rugby Program

The Clayton Rugby Football Club runs an in-house youth flag rugby program for kids ages 4-10 every year. The program serves as an excellent introduction and gateway to the sport of rugby. Our program places a focus on FUNdamentals as opposed to competition. This builds a sound foundation for your child’s future involvement and enjoyment of the sport of rugby.

If you have a child older than 10 looking to continue to play rugby, we recommend the Clayton Youth Rugby Club. They offer rugby for girls and boys with teams in every age group through U19.

Our Little Wombats program is Rugby themed fun for girls and boys in Pre-K thru 2nd Grade. The program is an activity and game based model that gets your child used to movement while also learning about the sport of rugby. Sessions take place once a week for an hour. The program focus is on movement, hand-eye coordination, color recognition, following direction, teamwork concepts, and most of all having FUN! All of which takes place in a rugby setting.

The program serves as an excellent introduction and entry into the sport of rugby.

Co-Ed Flag Rugby

3rd thru 4th Grade

Our Elementary School program is for girls and boys in 3rd thru 4th grade. It is a Co-Ed Flag rugby program that places a focus on FUNdamentals. Participants will have practice 1-2 times per week for the first few weeks of the program. During that time, they will learn the basics of the sport of rugby and begin building their skill set.

After the first couple of weeks, players are divided into teams. They will play games for the rest of the season. Team sizes are based on the number of participants.

Our Elementary School program is a great entry point into the sport of rugby.
