The Clayton Rugby Football Club is excited to announce that registration is now open for our Winter/Spring 2026 Youth Flag Rugby season!
Open to boys and girls ages 4–10, our Clayton Wombats Youth Flag Rugby program provides a fun, safe, and engaging introduction to the sport of rugby. Players learn the core fundamentals of teamwork, passing, and movement while developing confidence, coordination, and a love for the game. Flag rugby is a non-contact version of the sport—perfect for helping young players prepare to one day transition into tackle rugby as they get older.
Ages: 4–10
Season: February through April
Practices: One night per week
Since the program’s founding in 2018, the Wombats have built a strong foundation as an in-house developmental program. In 2025, the Wombats reached a new milestone—playing their first external games against the Southern Pines Youth Flag Rugby team.
Building on that success, the 2026 season will feature expanded opportunities for game play, with plans to participate in 2–3 U8/U10 jamboree events on select Sundays throughout the season. Our youngest age group, the U6 Wombats, will continue to focus on skill development and fun, practicing and playing one night per week.
Rugby is more than a sport—it’s a community. Our coaches focus on teaching teamwork, respect, and sportsmanship in a fun, family-friendly environment. Whether your child is new to the game or returning for another season, the Wombats are ready to welcome them!
