The Clayton Rugby Football Club received notification this weekend that the rugby tournament, to be held at the State Games of North Carolina, is cancelled. Citing poor registration numbers, the tournament organizers vow to have the tournament back in 2016. The Clayton Bootleggers made their 7s debut at the 2014 State Games and were looking forward to challenging for a medal in 2015.
With a planned tournament cancelled, the Clayton RFC has replaced the club’s registration to the State Games and will now be travelling to play in the Queen City 7s in Charlotte on June 27th.
Stay tuned for results from the Queen City 7s.
