Clayton RFC to Host Youth Clinics this Fall

Following up on the summer youth clinics, the Clayton Rugby Football Club is excited to announce two more free youth rugby clinics this coming fall, open to kids ages 4–12. The clinics will be held at the Johnston County Rugby Park on Saturday October 11th and Saturday November 22nd.

These clinics are designed to introduce kids to the basics of rugby in a safe, fun, and welcoming environment. No experience is necessary and all instruction will be provided by our youth coaching team. Clayton RFC’s certified coaches and players will lead the sessions, focusing on teamwork, fundamental skills, and of course, plenty of fun.

“We want kids in our community to experience rugby in a positive way,” said Youth Director Nick Taylor. “Our goal is to help them learn new skills, make friends, and fall in love with a sport that has given so much to our members. We also hope to use this to recruit more kids to our Wombats program which begins registration after the New Year.”

The clinics are part of Clayton RFC’s ongoing commitment to grow the game of rugby and provide opportunities for local youth to get involved. Families are encouraged to come out, watch, and see what rugby is all about.

As an added benefit, both of the youth clinics are paired with adult rugby matches. On October 11th, after the clinic, players can stick around to see the Clayton Old Boys (our 35+ team) take on Freeport RFC, a touring team from the Bahamas. The November 22nd clinic is tied in with the club’s annual Toys for Tots drive. This year’s event is being expanded to include a Rugby 10s tournament featuring local men and women’s tournaments as well as the annual Clayton Old Boys vs Southern Pines Old Boys match. Come for the youth clinic, bring a toy, and stick around to watch the rugby!

📅 Clinic Dates:

  • Saturday October 11th, 10:30am-11:30am

  • Saturday November 22nd, 11:30am-12:30pm

📍 Location: Johnston County Rugby Park
