This past week, the Clayton Rugby Football Club received an invitation to play in the PowerAde State Games of North Carolina. This is the first time that rugby will be played as part of the State Games and it is a very exciting development. Rugby 7s will be the form of rugby that will be played at the State Games.
The PowerAde State Games of North Carolina is scheduled for Saturday June 28, 2014 at the Mecklenburg County Sportsplex in Matthews, NC. Each club will play at least four games and players will each receive a State Games T-Shirt. Separate awards will be presented to the winning teams in each division.
The Clayton RFC is planning to field a squad in the Social Division of the State Games. The tournament, fittingly, could be the very first tournament ever attended by the Clayton RFC. The club is excited at the prospect of representing Clayton in rugby at the State Games of North Carolina.
