While the club is in between seasons as they prepare for the start of the Summer tournament season, the Clayton Bootleggers have used the free time to get out and support a community cause. This past Saturday a group of Clayton Rugby Football Club members participated in the annual Heart Chase Clayton to raise money and awareness for Heart Disease, as cardiovascular disease is one of the leading killers in America.
The Bootleggers took part in multiple roles at the event. Members from the club ran one of the fitness stations at the event, putting participants through a rugby-themed exercise. The club also had a promotional tent set up at the finish line and race hub. Last, but not least, the Bootleggers also had a team enter the event. Team Bootleggers finished in 3rd place!
“We are grateful to Clayton RFC sponsors Woodall’s Fitness for getting us involved,” said club President Ted Hardy. “We are committed to being a part of this community and love any opportunity to help.”
“Plus, it was fun introducing racers to one of the fitness drills that our coaches like to use on the guys.”
