We are sad to announce that the tournament has been cancelled for 2020.
We hope to see everyone next year!
Founded in 2016, the CottonTown 7s Rugby Festival is an annual 7s tournament hosted every July by the Clayton Rugby Football Club. The tournament has grown quickly into one of the largest summer 7s events in the Carolinas. In 2019 we had 27 teams, across three divisions, at the CottonTown 7s.
The name of the tournament is pulled from local history. During the early 1900’s Clayton was home to a thriving cotton market and many old cotton mills can be found around town today. The tournament name is also a nod to the CottonTown Lager, a popular beer made locally at Deep River Brewing Company, a major sponsor of the Clayton RFC.
Field 1 from the 2019 CottonTown 7s was broadcast live by Event Webcasting via the internet, Facebook, and Youtube with over 10,000 views.
Due to issues brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic, the tournament has been cancelled for 2020. We hope to see everyone next summer!
Men and Women’s Divisions – $300 before June 1st, $350 after July 1st
Registration Cutoff is July 13th
Once divisions fill up, your club will be placed on a waiting list. If any teams drop out of the tournament, the fill-in club will be chosen based on when they were placed on the waiting list.
