Founded in 2016, the CottonTown 7s Rugby Festival is an annual 7s tournament hosted every July by the Clayton Rugby Football Club. The tournament has grown quickly into one of the largest summer 7s events in the Carolinas. In 2018 we had 28 teams, across three divisions, at the CottonTown 7s.

The name of the tournament is pulled from local history. During the early 1900’s Clayton was home to a thriving cotton market and many old cotton mills can be found around town today. The tournament name is also a nod to the CottonTown Lager, a popular beer made locally at Deep River Brewing Company, a major sponsor of the Clayton RFC.

Field 1 from the 2018 CottonTown 7s was broadcast live by Event Webcasting via Facebook and Youtube with over 10,000 views.
