Founded in 2016, the CottonTown 7s Rugby Festival is an annual 7s tournament hosted every July by the Clayton Rugby Football Club. The tournament has grown quickly into one of the largest summer 7s events in the Carolinas. In 2019 we had 27 teams, across three divisions, at the CottonTown 7s.

The name of the tournament is pulled from local history. During the early 1900’s Clayton was home to a thriving cotton market and many old cotton mills can be found around town today. The tournament name is also a nod to the CottonTown Lager, a popular beer made locally at Deep River Brewing Company, a major sponsor of the Clayton RFC.

Field 1 from the 2019 CottonTown 7s was broadcast live by Event Webcasting via the internet, Facebook, and Youtube with over 10,000 views.

Due to issues brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic, the tournament has been moved to August 1st and the number of available divisions has been decreased. For the 2020 CottonTown 7s, only Men and Women’s divisions are available.

Men's Division (8 spots)

Women's Division (8 spots)

Multiple Trophies for each Division
